Join Comites’ children’s event at Casa Italiana in Burien on Saturday, August 19 from 9:30am to 12:30pm! Co-hosted by Il Punto and Casa Italiana, families can bring their children ages 5 to 12 years old for a fun morning of playing traditional Italian card games. Each child playing will receive their own deck of regional Italian cards, both Comites and Il Punto will be teaching and playing; multiple games can be played at the same time.
Enjoy complimentary breakfast snacks and juices at the event, and the caffe is also open for business for coffee, pastries, and lunch specials! Learning and playing Scopa, meaning “broom”, Briscola and other traditional card games preserves an Italian tradition over 400 years old. Playing these games can help children with their listening and memory skills, as well as math and strategic thinking.
The Comites are the representative bodies of Italians abroad in relations with diplomatic-consular representations. Through studies and research, they contribute to identifying the social, cultural and civil development needs of the community in question. Il Punto is a prominent Italian arts and language non-profit in Seattle since 2015.
Event is at Casa Italiana Italian Cultural Center in Burien, a 501 (c)(3) open since December 2020 including a museum, library, an Honorary Italian Consul office, store, caffe, and monthly cultural events like this one!
